Dynamic modeling of direct drive axial flux PMLOM using FEM analysis
A general framework for the development of a new generation of PM Linear Oscillating Machine (PMLOM) using FE magnetic analysis suitable for short strokes is described in this paper. A microcontroller based IGBT inverter is developed for the control of thrust and oscillation frequency. The PMLOM can perform precision oscillation task with relatively low power dissipation. The use of powerful permanent magnet material such as Neodymium-Iron-Boron alloys has greatly improved the performance of the machine. The forces for aluminium mover embedded with rare earth permanent magnets are determined analytically and the results are validated extensively by comparison with finite element analyses.

Chaos and Spatial pattern formation in phytoplankton dynamics
In this paper, the dynamics of spatially extended infected phytoplankton with the Holling type II functional response and logistically growing susceptible phytoplankton system and also the phytoplankton dynamics with susceptible and infected class of populations with diffusion is studied. The reaction diffusion system exhibits spatiotemporal chaos and pattern formation in phytoplankton dynamics, which is particularly important role for the spatially extended systems. We obtained the condition of diffusion-driven stability for the spatial dynamical system. Also we obtained the numerical simulation for the chaos and pattern formation for understanding the dynamical behavior of the phytoplankton system.

Green chemistry as the future shape of sustainability and development in Nigeria
Sustainable development is the major discussion on the world center stage today. For instance, UNESCO declared 2005-2015 as the world decade of education for sustainable development. In addition, an intrinsic part of the United Nations millennium goals is to ensure environmental sustainability and one of the targets is integrate the principles of sustainable development into the policy of every country around the world. Nigeria as a country is not left out in the comity of nations in various use and applications of chemicals in almost all facet of life which usually have health and safety implications. The chemical and its ancillary industries contribute up to 80% of the waste released into the air water and land every day. The practice of sustainable chemistry also known as green chemistry is the only antidote to address the myriads of problems threatening the future shape of our environment. The effect of greenhouse emissions of CO2 arising from the intensive burning of fuels in the various automobiles on the roads, the accumulation and non biodegradable nature of the various fertilizers and pesticide in use for agriculture, the direct discharge, dumping of toxic chemicals and wastes into the ecosystem and the food chain, and the non regulatory nature on the use of the various chemicals in our research, teaching and industrial laboratories.

Application of an empirical expression for full energy peak efficiency for the estimation of volumetric efficiency in large sample neutron activation analysis
An estimation of volumetric efficiency in large sample neutron activation analysis through the application of an empirical expression for the full energy peak efficiency was done. The gamma-ray self-attenuation correction factor and the geometric correction factor based on which the volumetric efficiency is finally estimated were experimentally and theoretically determined respectively. Within the limits of mass range of the sample investigated, there was no significant difference between the photo-peak efficiency and the volumetric efficiency. The result of the study therefore establishes that the mass (volume) of the test portions does not have significant effect on the efficiency of elemental detection when geometrical correction is considered.

Characterisation of the complexes of Nickel II and Copper II of TPA and 2-N-benzyl TPA
Nickel (II) complexes and Copper (II) complexes with the two ligands TPA and 2-N-benzyl TPA with nitrate anion are prepared. The isolated solid complexes are subjected to various physical measurements, such as conductivity measurements, and spectral behaviour apart from the chemical analysis.
