Green energy potentials for reducing green house gas emissions in atmosphere using GIS
The increase in use of non-renewable fossil fuels may have increased the amount of carbon dioxide and other Green House Gases in the atmosphere to produce climate change and other environmental problems both on local and global scales. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change predicts that there will be a temperature rise of about 1.4 to 5.8oC during 2100. Almost all the countries are now seriously thinking on controlling the fossil fuel use so as to arrest global warming. Biogas energy produced from poultry litter is one of the fastest growing clean energy source technologies across the world. Mapping of power potential from poultry litter in Namakkal block is the focus of the present study. The study employs Geographical Information System to map the biogas energy resources of Namakkal block and analyze the variability considering spatial aspects. Taking these into account, the present status of the alternative energy potential is assessed and maps have been prepared. The Poultry litter quantity has been estimated and used for evaluation of the alternative energy potential. The study shows that, the great green energy potential (83,457 KW/day) available in Namakkal block. This technology ensures reducing Green House Gas emissions, sustainable development, energy security and employment generation in the study area.

An efficient prediction technique for scalable video coding using interlayer information
In this paper, we present an efficient technique for compression of enhancement layers in scalable video coding (SVC). First we propose an improved interlayer prediction scheme which exploits the inherent redundancy of the underlying Laplacian pyramid with non biorthogonal filters. Secondly we introduce an orthogonal transform in parallel with the current 4x4 transform to improve the coding efficiency of the enhancement layer further. The improved prediction and the transform are implemented in the SVC reference software JSVM 4.0 as additional prediction modes. Experimental results demonstrate coding gains up to 1 dB for I pictures, and up to 0.7 dB for both I and P pictures, over a current implementation.

The contribution of school environment factor toward students’ achievement in the English language subject
The purpose of this study was to identify the relationship between school environment factors such as peer influence, class size and media usage in school with English Language subject achievement among Form Five students of a school in PasirGudang, Johor by measuring their English language SPM Trial examination results of 2010. The differences of English Language achievement among the students were analysed based on their demographic factor and the influence of the school environment factors (independent variables) on the SPM Trial English Language achievement (dependent variable). Sampling 180 respondents of Form Five students one of the secondary schools in PasirGudang District was chosen to carry out the research. Three research hypotheses were developed for this study. The data was analyzed using SPSS software. Statistical tool such as Pearson Coefficient Correlations, frequency and Multiple Regressions were used to test these hypotheses. There are two types of variables used in this research which are Dependent Variables (DV) and Independent Variables (IV). Students’ achievement is classified as theDV while the factors of school environment (teachers’ commitment, class size and peer influence) are classified astheIV. A conceptual framework is drawn based on the variables. The results indicated that class size has a weak significant impact towards students’ achievement whereas peer influence and media usagedo not have significant impact towards students’ achievement.

Diversity of mosquito fauna in three selected sites of usilampatti taluk, Madurai district, Tamilnadu
In the present study, the mosquito density of three selected sites of Madurai district viz., Elumalai, Kottaipatti and Usilampatti was surveyed. The results of the study indicate the presence of 10 species of mosquitoes which are grouped under four genera namely Aedes, Anopheles, Armigeres and Culex. The numbers of mosquitoes collected belonging to various species were low with an exception of Culex quinquefasciatus. The diversity measures (Shannon’s and Simpson’s) shows slight variation among the three selected sites studied. The Shannon’s index for Kottaipatti is slightly higher (1.883) when compared to Elumalai and Usilampatti (1.804 and 1.804). The Simpson’s index for Kottaipatti is slightly higher (0.7994) when compared to Elumalai and Usilampatti (0.7677 and 0.7579). In the study period, the maximum density of the mosquito population noted in the month of July and October. The minimum density of mosquito population obtained in the month of September.

Management Education: Indian Perspective
Management education is increasingly becoming important and plays a major role in the success of managers and organizations worldwide. The importance of the education sector, particularly a professional discipline like management studies, is increasing day by day in Indian country. The quantitative growth of institutions in private sector smacks of attempts to commercialize and these needs to be curbed. These institutions need to play a major role in producing the right quality and quantity of managers to meet the requirements of the market place. Nowadays the management institutions are facing a lot of problems for attaining quality in management education. In order to improve the quality Management education is being imparted in 17 National Institutes of Technology (former Regional Engineering Colleges, RECs) and to grade them to the level of IITs, these institutions have been fully- funded by the central government.

A comparative survey of routing protocols in mobile ad hoc networks
A "Mobile Ad hoc Network" (MANET) is an independent system where mobile hosts are connected by wireless links without any of the preexisting administration. Each node acts as a host and sometimes as a router to forward packets to other nodes. So Routing protocol plays an important role in MANETs because it is designed with self-motivated topology, mobile host, distributed environment and limited battery power. In previous researches, a lot of routing protocols were developed for MANETs such as CGSR, DSR and ZRP. This paper evaluates these protocols by on their uniqueness, functionalities, pros and cons. This paper also emphasizes on enhancement of different protocol’s performance.
