A Novel Approach for Optimal Allocation of a Distributed Generator in a Radial Distribution Feeder for Tail End Node Voltage Improvement and Loss Minimization during Peak Load
This paper proposes a novel approach for optimal allocation of a distributed generator in a radial distribution feeder for tail end node voltage improvement and loss minimization during peak load. A multi objective optimization method is proposed to determine optimal allocation of a distributed generation (DG) unit in a radial distribution feeder. The DG allocation problem has been formulated as multi objective function which includes two objectives: viz Power Loss Reduction and Tail End Node Voltage Improvement with associated weights. The proposed methodology uses Genetic Algorithm to optimize the multi objective function. This method is tested on standard IEEE 33 bus and 69 bus radial distribution systems using MATLAB 8.0. The results show that the proposed method yields considerable tail end node voltage improvement along with significant reduction in line losses during peak load.

A Novel Joint Data-Hiding and Compression Scheme Based on SMVQ and Image Inpainting
In this paper, we propose a novel joint data-hiding and compression scheme for digital images using side match vector quantization (SMVQ) and image inpainting. The two functions of data hiding and image compression can be integrated into one single module seamlessly. On the sender side, except for the blocks in the leftmost and topmost of the image, each of the other residual blocks in raster-scanning order can be embedded with secret data and compressed simultaneously by SMVQ or image inpainting adaptively according to the current embedding bit. Vector quantization is also utilized for some complex blocks to control the visual distortion and error diffusion caused by the progressive compression. After segmenting the image compressed codes into a series of sections by the indicator bits, the receiver can achieve the extraction of secret bits and image decompression successfully according to the index values in the segmented sections. Experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed scheme.

A study on labour absorption in agriculture: with special reference to Salem district, Tamilnadu
The present Study Discuss Labour Absorption in Agriculture, employment generation is one of the major objective of the developed and developing countries. Labour is one of the important factors of production in Indian economy, particularly in rural economy, rural industries and small scale industries. As India is a country of villages, three fourth of Indian population is living in rural Indian and two, third of this population directly or indirectly depends on the agricultural sector for live Livelihood (Planning Commission 1990). In India the number of person employed in industry, relatively to agriculture is small consequently large portion of the labour force will continue to obtain their sustenance from farm and farm related occupations. At least during next two or three decades, the agricultural sector must provide employment opportunities in rural areas. The studies conducted in the past have broadly concluded that technological progress based on seed, fertilizer and irrigation is generally labour-using in nature whereas mechanization via tractors, pump sets, harvesters and threshers is usually labour –saving in nature. However, usually these two aspects of the technological progress are complementary in nature and as such there is no consensus regarding the total effect of technological progress on labour absorption. In this context, both dry land and wet land technologies have been considered to assess labour absorption in Salem District, Tamilnadu.

A survey in sustainable design of Iranian windmill technology in desert areas
Considering the nature and utilizing its potential powers have got the long history in the eastern countries, so that the numerous examples of minimum energy consumption and Renewable Energy usage are recognizable in their historical past. Based on the studies on the local windmills known as Asbads, located in the eastern part of Iran (the southern part of Khorasan and Sistan), Wind power, known as Renewable or Eco-friendly Energy in the contemporary age, plays the pivotal role in the historical and cultural traditions of this country. The study mainly shows that Asbads as the traditional mechanical machines, used for the wind power transmission mechanism can be utilized again in the contemporary era, developing its overall mechanism or constructive materials. Such an action is considered as an innovative step toward overcoming the nature, but this time not to destroy it but to keep it for the following generations. Based on the research provided modeling, Asbads mechanism in transmission of wind kinetic energy to the energy needed for the agricultural activities such as gridding the wheat or barley can be simply applied in the contemporary era. The present study is of descriptive-analytical type. Data gathering was done in library and fieldwork method. To this end, the Lutak, Neshtifan, and Nehbandan windmills, located in Sistan Province, were studied. Following the study of the windmill history of Sistan Province and southeast of Iran, the quotations from foreign travellers as well as the stand and the function of the mills in Iran’s architecture were investigated. It is noteworthy that the functional elements of the mills are designed according to the aerodynamics rules. This fact suggests that the builders of these mills were cognizant of the capacity and behavior of the wind to satisfy the daily needs of people.

An Efficient method for Sign-Gestures Language Data acquisition and Recognition
Fast and robust analysis of hand gestures has received increasingly more attention in the last two decades. Sign language forms a major communication channel among the deaf people. Although they successfully communicate with each other when using sign language, they face many difficulties when they try to communicate with hearers, especially those who are unfamiliar with the sign language. In this paper we have designed a frame work for analyzing and recognizing the sign gesture language. The proposed method comes across different steps where image acquisition is done first. After image acquisition, segmentation process is carried out. The segmentation process used is the HSI segmentation. Next the images are made free from noise by performing the noise removal process using median filters. Next step is the feature extraction and recognition. For feature extraction, the feature vectors containing information about the aspect ratio, holes etc are extracted along with the shape features. The proposed method proves to be more efficient in data acquisition using sign gesture.

An Improved Double Flying Capacitor Multicell Converter Controlled By A Phase-Shifted Carrier PWM
This paper proposes an improved configuration of double flying capacitor multicell (DFCM) converter. The main advantages of the proposed converter, compared to the conventional lDFCM converter, are the doubling of the number of output voltage levels and improvement of the output voltage frequency spectrum. This progress is achieved by adding only two low-power switches and one dc voltage source. However, the number and voltage rating of high-frequency switches and capacitors and the number of high frequency switching’s during a full cycle are kept constant. The doubling of the number of output voltage levels in the proposed converter makes it possible to decrease the number of cells, the number of flying capacitors, as well as their voltage rating and the amount of stored energy in flying capacitors. Moreover, a modulation method based on phase-shifted carrier pulse width modulation is proposed to control the new converter. The doubling of the number of output voltage levels in the proposed converter makes it possible to decrease the number of cells, then number of flying capacitors, as well as their voltage rating and the amount of stored energy in flying capacitors. Moreover, a modulation method based on phase-shifted carrier pulse width modulation is proposed to control the new converter.

Analysis of Non-Stationary Power Quality Signals
Spectral analysis using the Fourier Transform is a powerful technique for stationary time series where the characteristics of the signal do not change with time. For non-stationary time series, the spectral content changes with time and hence time-averaged amplitude spectrum found by using Fourier Transform is inadequate to track the changes in the signal magnitude, frequency or phase. This paper presents a new time-frequency signal analysis method, called Modified S-Transform (MST) with modified Gaussian window, for visual localization, detection of various non-stationary power signals.
