Students understanding of comprehensive excellent: preliminary studies in international islamic university of Malaysia
This study was to investigate perceptions of selected International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) students’ regarding the definition and manifestation of Comprehensive Excellence in the university’s vision and mission statement of Integration, Internationalization, Islamization, and Comprehensive Excellence (Triple ICE) – irrespective of gender, nationality or academic achievement. Individual interview sessions lasting between 45 minutes to 55 minutes were conducted on selected IIUM students at separate venues and times. Each dimension was transcribed from the interview questions and decoded into a template. Main ideas were extracted from the template to answer the research questions within the purpose of the study. Two selected co-raters were identified to evaluate the main ideas of the researcher’s template in order to assure its reliability and validity. A percentage range of 96% to 100% showed that the items were highly reliable and valid. The results showed that Comprehensive Excellence was understood by a selected group of students only, thus more students need to be exposed to the conception of Comprehensive Excellence and other components of Triple ICE of the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM). This study may aid IIUM to compete and excel with other universities – locally and/or internationally as well as to prepare employable and marketable graduates.

Studies on synthesis, characterization and solvatochromic effect of novel tris(heteroaryl)bisazo dyes for dyeing polyester fabric
In the present communication novel tris(hetroaryl)bisazo dyes were synthesized by the coupling of various heterocyclic diazonium salt with 1-ethyl-6-hydroxy-4-methyl-2-oxo-5-((4-phenylthiazol-2-yl)diazenyl)-1,2-dihydropyridine-3-carbonitrile. The later compound was synthesized by a new procedure for the synthesis of well known azo pyridone dyes from 2-cyano-N-ethylacetamide, ethyl-3-oxobutanoate and 4-aryl-2-aminothaizole. Structural confirmation of all the synthesized compounds have been accomplished by UV-Visible, FT-IR, 1H-NMR,13C-NMR and mass spectroscopic techniques. Solvent effects on the visible absorption spectra of the dyes were evaluated. The color of the dyes is discussed with respect to the nature of the heterocyclic ring and substituent present therein. All these dyes were applied as disperse dyes on to polyester fabrics and their fastness properties were evaluated.

Synthesis, spectral, electrochemical and antimicrobial studies of some 2-pyrrolyl chalcones
A series containing twelve substituted styryl 2-pyrrolyl ketones have been synthesized by solvent free fly-ash:H2SO4 solid acid catalysed crossed aldol condensation. These chalcones were characterized by their physical constants and spectral data. The IR and NMR spectral frequencies of ?COs-cis and s-trans, deformation modes of ?CHip, op, CH=CHop and C=Cop(cm-1), ?H and ?C of ?, ? and CO(ppm) and the electrochemical reduction potential and currents of carbonyl and vinyl groups of synthesized chalcones were correlated with Hammett substituent constants, F and R parameters. From the results of statistical analyses the effects of substituents on the group frequencies and electrochemical functionalities have been discussed. The antimicrobial activities of all chalcones have been studied using Bauer-Kirby method.

The impact of frequent exposure to authentic audio visual material on enhancement of Iranian EFL learners’ listening comprehension ability
In recent years with the advent of technology in people’s life, the use of audio visual material to assist learners in their language learning experience especially EFL learning contexts has been integrated into the curriculum design in many countries. The use of video as an audio-visual aid in foreign language classrooms with the emphasis on communicative language teaching has attracted the attention of language teachers, SLA researchers as well as learners and it is apparent that the use of such useful learning tool can be a great help for language learning. In this study the effect of frequent exposure to audio- visual material on Iranian EFL learner shave been investigated. In order to conduct the study 40 Iranian intermediate students have been selected out of a pool of 200 based on their result in a placement test. The selected participants were randomly assigned into two groups of experimental and control each containing 20 learners. The listening ability of the participants were tested by a pre-test before start of the treatment and no significant difference have been observed. After a period of two month in which the experimental group received treatment of exposure to authentic audio visual material a round of post-test was administrated and the scores obtained from two groups was compared using a t-test. It was observed that the experimental group who have received the treatment achieved significantly better scores. It was concluded that frequent exposure to audio visual material has a positive impact on improvement of learners’ listening ability.

The improvement of the efficiency of automatic annotation of medical images using Majority Voting
Automatic annotation is actually a classification of medical images, using global and local features of images, IRMA standard code are extracted for them which consists of four data axes techniques of image providing (modality), direction, anatomy, and biological system. Recent researches show despite the fact that classification with high accuracy has been achieved good results but cannot always be optimal for all features of images. Therefore, in this paper, in order to improve the efficiency of automatic annotation system of medical images in terms of classification accuracy, the combined classifiers votes’ technique (Majority Voting) and Gabor filter feature in HSV color space for images has been used. The results are promising and improved performance show the improvement of the quality of the proposed system. In fact, in addition to high speed compared with previous methods, it has been achieved good accuracy as much as 75.1 percent

The influence of urban parks on sustainable city via increase quality of life
Nowadays the international attempts to conserve the environment are mainly related to some issues such as; biologically diverse and reasonably non-touched ecosystems. Beside, the location of people live and work, for a small green space in cities and to their profits to people, much less attention is paid to this kind of nature. Much evidence show that the attendance of natural areas leads to the quality of life in many methods. Moreover, many environmental services, urban nature prepare essential social and psychological profits to human society that improves the lives of human senses and emotions. The major objective of this paper is to examine the significance of the urban nature of the welfare of the citizens and the sustainability of the city they live. Some outcomes of a survey conducted between visitors of a city park in Qazvin (The Mellat) are showed and argued. The issues examined concern the motives of people for the urban nature, the emotional dimension involved in the experience of nature and its significance for the broad welfare of the people. The results prove that the experience of nature in an urban environment is a resource of useful emotions and positive services that complete significant immaterial and non-consumptive human requests.

The Manifold Therapeutic Applications of Leech (Jalouka) in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, Arthritis and Chronic Non healing wound wsr Sandhana Karma, Sandhigata Vata and Dushta Vrana – An Evidence Based Conceptual Review
Leech therapy is experiencing revivification in health care today, primarily in pain management for knee osteoarthritis and in modern science in plastic and reconstructive surgery(Sandhana Karma) as a treatment of venous congestion which can threaten positive surgical outcomes. Similarly leech therapy in wound care is an emerging bio surgical entity which is assuring promising results in the treatment of chronic non healing wounds(Dushta Vrana). The first description of leech therapy, classified as bloodletting, was found in the text of Sushruta Samhita (dating 800 B.C.) .Diseases where leech therapy was indicated were skin diseases, sciatica, and musculoskeletal disorders like Arthritis (Sandhigata Vata)etc. Acharya Sushruta has mentioned Avsechana Karma or Raktamokshana as one of the important procedure in the treatment of Vranashopha. Leech therapy (Jallaukavacharan) is said to be of prime importance due to its multifold actions and indications being an anushastra ie a para surgical tool and which can be used in children, weak persons or in the absence of surgical instruments. Such is the legacy of bloodletting by leech in Ayurveda. It has been observed that post graduate & under graduate students and paramedical staff have had no formal training in administering the therapy or in maintaining the medicinal leeches i.e. Hirudo medicinalis, the species of freshwater amphibian worm used therapeutically. Yet students and paramedical staff are expected to participate in this therapy in a variety of clinical settings, in variety of diseases, and hence can use the guidelines given in the article for the safe and effective use of the leeches in treatment. Keywords- Leech Therapy, Raktamokshana, bloodletting, Avsechana Karma, Anushastra, Vranashopha, Inflammation
