Development Strategies for Privately Owned Fashion Boutiques in southeast United States
In the fashion business, privately owned brick-and-mortar fashion boutiques in the United States face the challenge of competing with online retailers who usually have low overheads and inventories. The knowledge and awareness of the changing marketing landscapes responsible for the decline in the survival rate of traditional or brick-and-mortar fashion boutiques may be essential to traditional and online entrepreneurs, to increase adaptability and business sustainability. Grounded in the general systems theory, the research conducted through the invocation of a qualitative multiple case study, entailed the exploration of strategies used by successful brick-and-mortar fashion boutique owners in contending with the online retailers. Interviews constituted the means for data collection and involved 5 brick-and-mortar fashion boutique owner participants, who operated retail fashion businesses in the southeast region of the United States. The successful existence of the business for more than 5 years, while participation criteria in the study, also indicated merit in studying success in traditional fashion retailing. The primary data from interviews were analyzed and triangulated with credible secondary sources such as information and reports from the U. S. Small Business Administration, U. S. Census Bureau, and fashion industry sources. From a thematic analysis of the interview data, the three themes that emerged from the data analysis were the importance of business success of marketing strategies, cognizance of fashion trends, and the role of customer preference in economic success. The potential knowledge from the utilization of the study results may serve to increase the success rates of traditional and online fashion startups and possibly endow these businesses with the adaptabilities and strategies capabilities in the inevitable greater transformation to an online business world.

Sustainable moderation of sand harvesting effects and conservation on land cover flora and fauna along riparian land
Sand is an important mineral for the construction industry in the Kenyan society at large. However, protecting the environment in areas where this practice of sand mining takes place has become an environmental concern, given that the demand for sand increases with the growth of industry and construction. Sand mining though sustains the economy of the locals, can lead to considerable environmental damage which varies from pit formation to soil erosion. There is therefore need to put in place measures that can promote the economy of the locals and at the same time conserving the rich and diversified flora and fauna. The objectives of the study were: to identify effects of sand harvesting on land cover, flora and fauna; and to establish sustainable measures of land cover, flora and fauna along riparian land in Kisumu County. It was an experimental research design carried out usingmixed method approaches. A sample size study population of 384 was involved, which comprised of NGO staffs, County Council staffs, local area authority staffs, sand harvesters and the local community. The local communities were randomly sampled while purposive sampling was used to select respondents from the sand harvesters, area chiefs, NGOs and the County Council staffs. Data were collected by means ofself-administered questionnaires, guided interview schedules and observation check list by the researcher. The results indicated that there was negative impact of sand harvesting on land cover, flora and fauna on the riparian land along rivers. It also established the sustainable measures of land cover, flora and fauna in the study area. The research indicated that indeed the harvesting of sand is affecting the land cover, flora and faunaalong riparian land negatively. The vegetation, the wildlife and the land cover are destroyed as the top soil is harvested as sand. Further, the land for agriculture is turned into waste land due to sand harvesting by formation of pits. This has resulted in the loss of the natural beauty of the environment. Because there are also economic gains in sand harvesting, sustainable measures of land cover, flora and fauna along riparian land are recommended. These should include; regulating the harvesting periods or controlled harvesting, re-shaping of the land where sand has been harvested, advocating for continuousawareness and positive education programmes on conservation measures of land cover, flora and fauna and enacting necessary legislative laws aimed at conserving land cover, flora and fauna.

A Confirmatory Factor Analysis of the Career Locus of Control Scale with Secondary School Students in Kenya
This article presents the confirmatory factor analysis of the 20 item career locus of control scale with a sample of 370 secondary school students. The instrument consists of 4 subscales measuring Internality, Luck, Helplessness, and Powerful Others. The overall internal reliability of the locus of control scale was satisfactory. The current study tested six models and verified four of the six models. External locus of control scores correlated significantly with measures ofcareer decision self-efficacy, career indecision and vocational identity. Internal locus of control scores correlated significantly with career decision making self efficacy. Significant gender differences were noted in most of the subscales of career locus of control with males scoring significantly higher on the subscales measuring externality and females scoring significantly higher on the subscales measuring internality. Age was not related to any of the sub scales. The current study provides the validity data for the career locus of control scale using a Kenyan sample. Based on the results, other researchers may use the instrument to measure the career locus of control of Africans.

Sarcomatoid Anaplastic Carcinoma of the Thyroid: A Case Report
Describe the modalities for the management of anaplastic thyroid carcinoma in its sarcomatoid form. Material and method: We report the case of a 45-year-old woman who presented with anaplastic thyroid carcinoma in its sarcomatoid form. Clinical case: This is a 45-year-old patient admitted to the emergency department for the management of inspiratory dyspnea on a large mass in the anterior cervical region that has been developing for more than 3 months. A cervicothoracic CT scan was performed urgently showing an enormous thyroid mass of malignant appearance at the expense of the left thyroid lobe with extension to the other lobe, associated with thrombosis of the internal jugular vein and the superior vena cava, as well as a right pulmonary embolism. A surgical decision for tumor reduction with extemporaneous pathological examination associated with a tracheostomy was taken. The definitive anatomopathological examination revealed after immunohistochemical study anaplastic thyroid carcinoma in its sarcomatoid form Conclusion: The therapeutic approach to anaplastic cancers has changed in a few decades. Surgical treatment of goiters has reduced the incidence of these cancers, access to preoperative cytological diagnosis sometimes allows early management, at the stage of emerging intrathyroidal anaplastic foci in differentiated cancers. Combined treatments give back a place to surgery.

Purification of wastewaters by a combined system planted of emerged macrophytes
This work is focused on the purification of soap factory wastewaters by a combined system planted of emerged macrophytes. The exploitation of this combined system planted reveals substantial results after twenty weeks of the purification of wastewater. Neutralization of the pH of filtered water and its cooling. Almost all suspended matter is removed (95%) from the filtered waters. Significant reductions in ammonium (75%) and nitrite (69%) contents are observed. Using this combined system planted, high removal rates of orthophosphates (56%) and anionic surfactants (81%) are obtained. The removal rate of organic matter is about 76% in BOD5 and 42% in COD.
