The role of emotional intelligence in influencing leadership effectiveness: survey of senior management in banking sector in Mombasa County
The purpose of this study is provide some insight into the role played by emotional intelligence in the effectiveness of a leader. The general objective of this research study is to establish the relationship between emotional intelligence and effectiveness of a leader. Specific objective is to understand the role emotional intelligence plays in effectiveness of a leader. The null hypothesis of this study is there is no relationship between emotional intelligence and leadership effectiveness. The study is built on the general belief that leaders are human beings who have human feelings. Therefore, one who is emotionally intelligent might use emotion to create charismatic authority over team members in order to ensure team transformation. It is assumed that effective leaders may not necessarily be people with very high intelligent quotient but those intelligent people who are well able to manage their emotions to suit the present situations. In the recent past, there has been a rise in cases of prominent people and leaders in organizations losing jobs because of their inability to balance between their emotions and job requirements. Cases of stressed workforce have been rising. This prompted this research. Ferris (2002) emotional intelligence is a construct that is gaining a lot of attention because many very learned leaders have been failing in their leadership just because of not balancing between emotions and intelligence. Sosik and Megerian (1999) stated “emotionally intelligent leaders provide the impetus for individuals to collectively perform”. The methodology of this study will be combined research design. Purposeful sampling will be used to sample the population. In this regard, three different cases have been identified to support this proposition and understand the nature of relationship between emotional intelligence and leadership effectiveness. The caseswere drawn from major banks in kenya. The researcher concludes that effective leaders are those who able to balance between their moods and emotions at the workplace in order to influence their employees positively and also well manage others at work

Evaluation of library computerization projects in some universities in South-Western Nigeria
A survey method was employed to evaluate library computerization project at Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso, Nigeria and University of Ilorin, Ilorin, Nigeria. Structured questionnaire and interview were the instrument adopted. The instrument were validated by pre-test analysis using Pearson Product Correlation; there was a strong reliability (0.92) of the instrument. A total number of 39 copies of questionnaires were administered to the library staff which were all completed and returned. Out 0f 300 copies of questionnaires administered to users, only 277 were completed, returned and used for the study. The data generated was analyzed using descriptive statistics involving tables and percentages. The findings show that much progress has not been recorded by the libraries under study towards the effective automation of their libraries operations; information technology (IT) resources are inadequate and there was low percentage (32.1) of satisfied users. It was also discovered that the university libraries under this study were lagging behind in the pace of automation due to inadequate funding, inadequate IT resources, problem of software, lack of policy guidelines, lack of culture of evaluation to access performance of the computerized project and logistic problem. It can be concluded that some Nigeria University libraries are still on developing stride towards improving their IT profiles. Thus, it is recommended that periodic evaluation to assess performance of the computerized library projects services should be institutionalized within University libraries in order to continually improve the implementation, operation and cost-effectiveness of automated information services.

Prestige: The hidden factor in motivating Iranian IELTS Candidates
IELTS, International English Language Testing System, is designed to assess the language ability of candidates who intend to study, work, or live where English is used as the language of communication. Highly significant growth in candidature particularly in South Asia and the Middle East clearly illustrates how globally IELTS is recognized currently. Statistics demonstrate that Iran was among the top 25 locations in which candidates took IELTS in 2003 (IELTS Annual Review, 2003). Surprisingly, there seems to be a deviation from the communicative into prestigious purposes. The aim of the present study is to investigate the underlying hidden factor motivating Iranian IELTS candidates to prepare for the test. The target population of this study consisted of 300 IELTS candidates and 20 IELTS teachers. They were given a questionnaire and subsequently 30 of the participants underwent a semi-structured interview to elicit more information on what motivated them to go for IELTS. After the qualitative analysis of the data, the findings indicated that the hidden factor underlying all the motivating factors for the majority of Iranian IELTS candidates is prestige.

Entrepreneurship a Panacea for Unemployment, A Myth or Reality?
Unemployment is a global challenge especially to developing nations like Pakistan. In the current era motivating the nation towards entrepreneurship is recommended to be a solution of unemployment. As adequate number of jobs both in government and private sectors are not being generated due to economic crisis in Pakistan, it is perceived that more entrepreneurial projects should mitigate the unemployment. Nevertheless, opting entrepreneurship is one solution, however the question arises is it a universal solution of unemployment for people of all classes in a nation? This conceptual cum empirical study contributes a critical view on the role of entrepreneurship in mitigating unemployment in Pakistan with the help of existing literature, expert’s opinions and logical analysis. The study concluded that although entrepreneurship is a solution for unemployment, but it is not universally applicable for all people in Pakistan. The study recommends that measures must be taken to ensure balance of new vacancies in all walks of life as every person in the nation cannot serve an entrepreneur. Further, a nation for its prosperity and growth depends on quality professionals in all spheres of life. The study therefore concluded not to consider entrepreneurship a panacea. In addition to using entrepreneurship as one tool, it recommends production and utilization of quality professionals in all walks of life with continuous generation of adequate vacancies at a predefined periodic interval to address unemployment effectively.

Determining suitable probability distribution for estimating wetting front in surface and subsurface Drip Irrigation
Drip irrigation systems have a preference in selecting a suitable irrigation method in arid and semi-arid regions because of its high potential in uniform applying water in through a field. A proper management of drip irrigation system is, to some extent, dependent upon accurate understanding of wetting patterns distributions in soil under different combinations of soil type and emitter discharge rate. Using statistical distribution to estimate wetting front pattern in drip irrigation systems can improve their performance in different conditions. In this paper, the wetting area and water distribution on light, medium and heavy texture homogeneous soils in subsurface drip irrigation (SDI) and surface irrigation (DI) were evaluated. Experimental tests were carried out in a plexiglass lysimeter container with transparent walls. Emitters were buried at 15, 30 and 45 cm depths and discharge rates of 2.4, 4 and 6 L/h were applied. In this research, data of water front was divided into tree hourly periodic lengths of 2, 4 and 6. Then, with analysis of data in time series according to HYFA software output and goodness fit of Relative Residual Square Mean, suitable frequency distribution function for different conditions was evaluated. Based on relative frequency, the best fitted distribution for DI and SDI was found to be Normal and Pearson type III distribution (Moment method) and Normal distribution (maximum likelihood method).

Research on the construction strategies of eco-industrial clusters
Industrial cluster is an industrial organization mode formed from many enterprises and inter-related institutions with a certain geographic concentration. It is an effective way for the development of regional economy, and featured with agglomeration, symbiosis, flexibility, embeddedness, etc. Industrial eco-system is a recycling-oriented industrial system, in which the waste of one process can be utilized as the resource of a closed loop system, or becomes inputs for a new process, and ultimately all the materials, energy and information are sustainable used. Industrial ecosystem is characterized by the market-driven initiative, material flow circularity, the cooperation of industrial clusters and dynamic sustainability. Eco-industrial cluster can be categorized as the main-sub-industry derivative mode, multi-industry symbiosis mode, or artery- vein-industry circular mode

Organizational justice: understanding, applying, and measuring
The term ‘organizational justice’ refers to the extent to which employees perceive workplace procedures, interactions and outcomes to be fair in nature. These perceptions can influence attitudes and behaviour for good or ill, in turn having a positive or negative impact on employee performance and the organization’s success. The principles of organizational justice are not, on the whole, complex to apply and may be considered more in the vein of ‘sound managerial practice’ than ‘social technology’. While some interventions may be less successful on some occasions or in particular contexts, none is likely to be harmful, and at the very least they will promote a sense that the organization is concerned about fairness. When implemented well, they can make a significant contribution to improving performance, enhancing commitment, and preserving dignity and humaneness.

Numerical simulation for thermal optimization of casting process
This contribution aims to validate a newly developed add-on module to a commercial simulation software, which enables the prediction of the microstructure and mechanical properties of aluminum cast alloys under different casting conditions. The simulation of the casting process and the resulting microstructure and mechanical properties, permits a reduction of experimental testing and providing the best solution of process and material selections, thereby making the design and development process more cost efficient. The simulation results are compared with the investigation of the micro structural and mechanical behaviors of an As-Cast Aluminum cylinder head processed by semi permanent gravity die casting. It is demonstrated that the predictions made by the simulations are comparable to the experimental results. In order to further enhance the quality of the simulation tool, it is of significance to gain more experience from comparisons with complex castings of different aluminum alloys, where the microstructure as well as the mechanical properties are carefully evaluated.

Utilization of water power as a Eco-Friend Energy in Watermills, case of Iran, Dezful
Necessity is the mother of invention. The superiority of human over other creatures lies in the fact that he can make tools to satisfy his needs. To make bread, they needed to crush the wheat into powder. To achieve this end, the hard-working people of Khuzestan Province tried to use hydropower by building mill and operating it. The utilization of Eco-friend Energy plays the essential role in the environmental protection in the contemporary age, so that many countries have given the importance to such energies in their national programs. The study demonstrates that the issue has been considered in Iran from the early ages. The recognition of watermills utilization experience in the southwestern region of Iran and especially the northern part of Khouzestan province reveals that the use of water energy has been adapted with the daily needs of residents. With regard to the water power transmission mechanism in the studied local watermills known as Asyab, a same mechanism in all two types of Asyabs is recognizable. Based on the study main achievement, such a power transmission mechanism can be applied in the contemporary age even in other countries to replace the energies derived from the fossil fuels with the water energy as a Renewable and Eco-friend Energy Finally, not only, to preserve such valuable historic remnants is an aid to attract Iran and glob tourists and the people who are interested to know about them, but, Capitalizing on the rewarding continental conditions of Dezful city leads to take economical steps to make a steady progress in using modern technologies such as electricity power.
