Federal character principle as a pitfall for national development in Nigeria (A Historical perspective)
This paper focussed on Federal character principle which was introduced into the Nigeria political and administrative system because of the multi-ethnic nature of the Nigeria Federation, so as to promote fair-ness among different ethnic nationalities in the equitable distribution of resources like employment, appointment, and election to any public position to promote national loyalty and encourage national development. A review of the contributions of federal character to national development in Nigeria since its inception in 1979 till date entails that the desired objective have not been achieved. It then becomes clear that federal character is now more of a curse than a blessing to Nigeria and Nigerians because; it has damage the principle of excellence, it discourages determination and zeal for national development, it undermines standard and professionalism, it encouraged liquidation of many industries, it invaded the integrity and standard of public bureaucracy and its purely an elites policy. Based on the above findings, some recommendations were made as prerequisite to national development in Nigeria.

An novel approach to computerized ration shops equipped with biometric customer card
This paper mainly focuses on computerization of ration shops providing Customer Card or Ration Card having the Biometric Identification. Currently the Ration shops are manually operated like billing, weighting systems which are inaccurate, makes a way for causes for mischiefs and cheating activities. To avoid these problems all the ration shops are to be computerized and all the customer’s cards are provided with a digital card with Biometric Identification. By means of implementing the computerized billing and the digital weighting machine to be interfaced to the computer system. The finger print of the customer is used as the biometric Identification, in order to avoid the unauthorized accessibility upon the ration shop. By implementing the system ration shop process become simple and stack details are accurate and easily calculated in terms of grams. The chance for cheating and inaccurate quantity of supply are rare, so the customers can get accurate amount of products. The stack and overall calculations of the ration shop is made fast and simple.

Synthesis, Characterization and anti-HIV Activity of 4-hydroxy-3-(5-methyl-1-phenyl-1H-pyrazol-3-yl)pyrano[3,2-c]chromene-2,5-dione
Substituted 4-hydroxy -2H,5H pyrano (3,2-C) chromene – 2,5 – dione (I) have been prepared by 4-Hydroxy coumarin when treated with phosphorus oxychloride and zinc chloride. (I) on reaction with acetic acid and phosphorous oxychloride to give 3- acetyl 4-hydroxy -2H,5H pyrano (3,2-C) chromene – 2,5 – dione (II). Which on heating with ethyl acetate and pulverized sodium metal for several hours afforded 4-hydroxy-3-(3-oxobutanoyl)2H,5H pyrano(3,2-c)chromene-2,5-dione (III) . (III) when treated with ethanol and phenyl hydrazine afforded to give 4-hydroxy-3-(5-methyl-1-phenyl-1H-pyrazol-3-yl)pyrano[3,2-c]chromene-2,5-dione (IV). Several of similar derivatives were also synthesized. The structures of the synthesised compounds have been assigned on the basis of elemental analyses, IR, NMR and mass spectral studies.

The relationship between economic status, level of education, formality of context and the use of requests in young Iranian couples
This study focused on investigating the relationship between making requests on one hand, and economic status, level of education and formality of context on the other. It examined the differences in the realization of requests in one area of Iran, i.e. Shahrekord, to account for pragmatic variations based on these three variables. To this end, sixty young couples based on their education and economic status were selected and surveyed in six different situations: 1) indoors, alone; 2) indoors, close family gatherings; 3) indoors, formal gatherings; 4) outdoors, with their relatives; 5) outdoors, being with a stranger; 6) outdoors, formal situations. A discourse completion test (DCT) was used as an elicitation device and a Chi-square was run to analyze the data. The results showed the preference order for the type of request used as direct, conventional indirect and non-conventional indirect. It was also found that as the degree of formality of context increases, the use of mitigation devices tends to increase as well.

Growth and characterization of glycine sodium nitrate crystals
Good quality single crystals of glycine sodium nitrate a new semiorganic nonlinear optical (NLO) crystal has been successfully grown from aqueous solution by slow evaporation method. The structural characterization of the grown crystals was carried out by X-ray diffraction. The grown crystals were subjected to FTIR for vibrational assignments. The optical properties were studied for the SHG efficiency. It is found that the cutoff wavelength lies in the UV region. The mechanical response of the crystal has been studied using Vickers microhardness technique.
