A cross-cultural investigation of the effect of situational context on politeness strategies in greetings of native speakers of English and EFL learners
As a cross-cultural study, the present study investigates politeness strategies that native English speakers and EFL learners employ for exchanging greetings in different situational contexts. Data includes responses elicited through an open-ended Dramatic Written Discourse Completion Task (DWDCT). In order to control the effect of students’ proficiency level, an advanced test of Oxford Placement Test (OPT) was administered to select among 73 senior students of English literature and translation at Isfahan University. Sixty female undergraduate EFL learners with an age range of 21-24 at Isfahan University in Iran and 60 native English learners with an age range of 23-37 studying Medical Laboratory Technology at Dalton State College in Dalton, Georgia, USA participated in the present study. The findings present that EFL learners are not linguistically competent in English greetings in different situations. It also suggests that EFL learners use inappropriate politeness expressions in their English responses, as they do not have the ability to express greetings according to the situational context and native culture. Therefore, it may be necessary to adopt systematic, appropriate and situationally contextualized greetings in the Target Language (TL) in second and foreign language teaching.

Simulation of heart disorders using comsol multiphysics
Micro electro mechanical systems (MEMS)also known as micro fabricated systems(MS) has evoked a greater interest in scientific and engineering communities. This is generally because of smaller size and better performance than other solutions, cost effective integration with electronics, large reduction in power consumption, etc…In this project SIMULATION OF HEART DISORDERS were detected using three equations such as FitzHugh-Nagumo equation, Landau-Ginzburg equation and Hermite-Quadratic element equation. We used the fourth order Hermite element for the complex landau-ginzburg equation because of less nonlinearit nonlinearites. We have used COMSOL MULTIPHYSICS for the simulations.

Relevance of attitude for the achievement in English
This study aims to examine the learners’ and the teachers’ attitude towards learning English. It aims to explore the existing co-relationship between the attitudeand the achievement in English. The paper is limited to the JCC which may be applicable to any other college that is of similar type. The focus group has been used as a technique of data collection, however, personal experience and observation play a major role in the process of interpretation, conclusion and recommendations. The findings show that the positive attitude towards learning/teaching English plays an important role in the overall achievement in the target language. It has also been noticed that though the Saudi people realize the importance of using (especially speaking) English, they tend to show indifference towards those who try to interact in the foreign language. It is found that there is a positive correlation between attitude towards learning/teaching English and their proficiency in it. In addition, the study reveals that students have open access to use media technology such as websites, online learning, college developed e-learning resources etc which could be proved to be effective techniques and strategies for the target language achievement. On the other hand, it has also been realised that inspite of the fact all the necessary equipment and resources are in practice, the achievement is not upto the mark. Thus, teachers’ role is quite crucial in this connection. Many other studies can be undertaken to prove the positive effect of the attitude of the teachers/learners on learning in general and language achievement in particular.

Product design based on total cost of ownership approach
In an ever increasingly competitive environment, product design forms the foundation for enduring sales responsiveness and enhanced customer satisfaction. Superior product performance, quality and reduced cost of ownership are the results of effective, efficient engineering and design. The impact of product design on total cost of ownership and the profitability of a manufacturing company are significant. This paper addresses design for total cost of ownership approach for allocation of redundancy that can minimize the total cost of the product during the product life time. A genetic algorithm based heuristic is developed to provide an optimal or a near optimal solution. This DTCO approach permits engineers to study product designs with respect to cost, reliability and performance during the conceptual design phase and enables the integrated method to identify design changes that improve performance and reduce total cost of ownership.

Relationship between occupational stress (0S) and organization citizenship behavior (OCB) of academic staff working at higher educational level
The present study was aimed to analyze the relationship between occupational stress and organization citizenship behavior of academic staff working in Higher Education Institutions of Pakistan. Qualitative and quantitative approaches have been used to explore the relationship of occupational stress and organization citizenship behavior by using a sample of 240 academic staff of public sector institutions of higher education located in Islamabad, Pakistan. Data were collected through personal visit to the offices of academic staff. Two research instruments i.e. Occupational Stress Inventory–revised (OSI-R) and OCB inventory by Podsakolf and Mackenzie were used to collect data. For data analysis Pearson Correlation was applied. Data analysis revealed that significant negative relationship was found in responses of academic staff regarding occupational stress and organization citizenship behavior.

Incidence of b-thalassaemia in Peshawar
A questionnaire, interview survey of 320 patients was made in Peshawar, Pakistan to study the severity of beta thalassaemia on different aspects. The study revealed that it was common in male than female. The other things were that inter family marriages played an important part. The average family income was very less as compared to the family members and the expenditure of the treatment. The analysis showed that the father income is associated with the knowledge about thalassaemia and education. It was also revealed that the disease was more common in positive blood groups.

Packet switching and network technologies
A packet is a unit of data that is transmitted across a packet-switched network. A packet-switched network is an interconnected set of networks that are joined by routers or switching routers. Packet switching contrasts with another principal networking paradigm, circuit switching, a method which sets up a limited number of dedicated connections of constant bit rate and constant delay between nodes for exclusive use during the communication session. An overview of packet switching and packet technologies that use wired and wireless media Local Area Networks: Packets Switching.

The effect of organic based inhibitor on inhibiting the mild steel corrosion in Citric acid medium
Formazan of benzaldehyde (FB) has been prepared as a corrosion inhibitor to control the rate of corrosion. This compound has been investigated as corrosion inhibitor at room temperature for preventing mild steel corrosion in Citric acid mediums by weight loss method and by adsorption isotherm. The result showed that the corrosion inhibition efficiency of these compounds was found to vary with different acid concentration. Also, it was found that the corrosion inhibition behavior of FB is greater in 1M Citric acid and 2M Citric acid. But when it has been compared the results revealed that the inhibitor efficiency is better in 1M Citric acid than 2M Citric acid. So FB can be used has a good inhibitor for preventing mild steel material. The surface analysis study also confirms that the corrosion of the mild steel and its inhibition efficiency by the inhibitor FB.

Semantic summary generation from multiple documents using feature specific sentence ranking strategy
This paper proposes an approach of adapting the vector space model with dependency parse relations to generate semantic summary from multiple documents. Traditional vector space models with tf-idf weighting was not able to completely capture the content similarity because it treats the words within a document are independent of each other. In the proposed system the dependency parse of the document has been used to modify the tf-idf weight of words by incorporating the dependency between each pair of words. To select relevant sentences, different combinations of features are applied through sentence ranking strategy. The experiment result shows that consistent improvement of proposed system over traditional approaches.
