Composition of energy intake and consumption of snacks among overweight/obese adolescents
World Health Organization (WHO) defines obesity as a condition of excessive fat accumulation in adipose tissue to the extent that health may be impaired. Overweight and obesity are defined by body mass index for gender and age. The problem of obesity is confined not only to adults but also to children and adolescents. An increased intake of sugar sweetened beverage is associated with higher energy intake, weight gain, obesity and diabetes. Restaurant foods especially fast foods contain more calories, more fat per calorie and less fiber than homemade foods. Since junk foods are high in energy, excessive consumption of junk foods, coupled with lack of adequate physical activity may contribute to obesity. The aim of present study is to find out the macronutrient composition of energy intake among selected overweight/obese adolescents and to estimate the snacking consumption of the selected overweight/obese adolescents.

Studies on the growth and properties of an organic nonlinear optical crystal benzoyl glycine (BG)
Benzoyl Glycine (BG) an organic nonlinear optical crystal was synthesized and grown by slow evaporation method at room temperature. Single crystal X-ray diffraction study reveals that the crystal belongs to orthorhombic system and crystallizes in the non centro symmetric space group P212121. Powder X-ray diffraction was recorded and the peaks were indexed. Absorption spectrum shows that the crystal is transparent in the entire visible region. The functional groups present in the material were interpreted by FTIR spectral analysis. TG-DTA was performed to study the thermal stability of the crystal. Microhardness and etching studies were also carried out. The SHG efficiency of BG was 2.5 times higher than that of KDP.

The direction of volatility spillover in stock prices and exchange rate: evidence from Nigeria
The study investigates the direction of volatility spillover between exchange rate and stock prices in Nigeria using quarterly data for the period of 1990-Q1 to 2009-Q4. Exponential Generalized Autoregressive Conditional Heteroskedastic (EGARCH) framework due to Nelson (1991) was employed. Two different stock exchange indicators were used as proxy for stock prices to test the direction of volatility spillover between the variables. Thus we have two EGARCH models. The ADF and PP tests suggest that the series are random walk processes in their level form. The empirical findings suggest evidence of no long run equilibrium relationship between exchange rate and stock prices. It further shows that there is a robust unidirectional volatility spillover running from exchange rate to stock prices irrespective of the stock market indicator used. The result supports the findings of Beer and Hebeins (2008) for industrialized countries. The estimated mean equation showed that there is instantaneous positive response of stock market volatility to exchange rate fluctuation. Evidence from variance equation revealed that volatility persists longer when SMC was used as proxy for stock prices than ASI. The standard deviation statistic showed that stock market indicator is positively related to risk, validating the capital asset market hypothesis.

An empirical study on month of the year effect in gas, oil and refineries sectors- evidence from Indian stock market
The primary objective of the study is to investigate the existence of seasonality in stock price behavior in Indian stock market and more specifically in the Gas, Oil and Refineries sector. The period of the study is from 1st January 2006 to 31st December 2010. For the purpose analysis, the study has employed daily price series that have been obtained from the official website of National Stock Exchange (NSE). The daily price series of selected eight Gas, Oil and Refineries companies were selected for this study, and used multiple regression technique to examine the significance of the regression coefficient for investigating month of the year effects. It is found that all the eight selected Gas, Oil and Refineries companies evidenced month of the year effect and mostly either on September, August or February. Only GAIL, and HPCL evidenced significant October and July effect.

Fuzzy based data mining system for E-government
As the modernization of government is growing, E-Government is a grand new domain in recent years. More and more data is sent to databases system and large amounts of data are accumulated. Abundant knowledge exists in those Historical data. Meaning is to analyze those historical data and find useful knowledge and rules from the mass of data to provide better decision support and better adjustment guidance. The concept and steps of data mining is introduced in particular. When we use the E-Government system to process data, we need to choose what data is useful and what kind of new information we can get from the log file or from the database. Because of the special characters of knowledge, this paper presents an algorithm of the fuzzy data mining, and put great importance on the steps of the Fuzzy data mining.

Secure audio steganography for hiding text and audio files
In present day to day life, effective data hiding methods are needed due to attack made on data communication. This paper presents the technique for the above requirement. In this proposed method, secret message in form of audio file is embedded within another carrier audio file(.wav). In the transmitter end the output will be similar to the carrier with secret message embedded inside. The hacker will be blinded by the transmitted signal. At the receiver end the original message can be retrieved without any loss. The entire proposed system is simulated and their corresponding waveforms prove the effectiveness of this method.

Regulatory landscape of biosimilars in Singapore: a critical overview
A Biosimilar medicine is a medicine which is similar to a biological medicine that has already been authorised (the ‘biological reference medicine’). The expiration of the patents on many biological products has prompted the development of these products as similar biological products. The European Medicinal Agency (EMEA) has done a commendable job at creating the regulatory path to facilitate approval of biosimilars. The Medicines Act requires all medicinal products sold in Singapore and manufactured locally for export to be licensed with the Health Products Regulation Group, Health Science Authority (HAS). Guidance on registration of similar biological products in Singapore was published by the HSA in August 2009. This was added as Appendix 17 to the ‘Guidance on Medicinal Product Registration in Singapore’ in April 2011. Bio similar products are eligible for the (New Drug Application) NDA-2 and NDA-3 application types. The Biosimilar product should be evaluated and approved by at least one of HAS’s reference agencies namely Australia, Health Canada, Europe, United States. Approved biosimilars must be demonstrated, through extensive characterization and appropriate clinical trials, to be as safe and effective as originators for the benefit of patients.
