ANN assisted network reconfiguration for enhancement of voltage stability in power networks
Due to economic reasons arising out of deregulation and open market of electricity, modern day power systems are being operated closer to their stability limits. Maintaining voltage stability and specified voltage levels at all nodes in a large & heavily loaded Power network is a critical & challenging task for power engineers. A number of different approaches have been reported in papers for improvement of voltage stability. In this paper a method for improving voltage stability in a power network has been suggested based on Network Reconfiguration approach. Network Reconfiguration is intended to enhance the voltage stability by determination of switching options that maximizes voltage stability for a particular set of loads and is performed by altering the topological structure of the system. In this paper, reconfiguration of a power network is achieved by addition of new power lines to the existing network. The paper reports an application of ANNs in voltage stability enhancement. A generalized ANN model has been proposed for enhancement of voltage stability under varying load conditions. Training data sets for ANN training is generated by varying both real and reactive loads at the buses. An IEEE-14 Bus system considered to demonstrate the performance of the developed ANN model. The proposed ANN model is trained using conjugate Gradient Descent Back-propagation Algorithm and tested by applying arbitrary input data. The test results of the ANN model are found to be closely matching of the results obtained by off-line simulation.

Antagnostic effect of raze bacteria from the squat horned grasshoppers using (p-dimethylaminobenzaldehyde) and indole test
Bacterial antagonism is a phenomenon in which the growth and activity of other bacteria is inhibited. In general microorganisms produce secondary metabolites which are not as essential for the survival of the organism. The organism produces an inhibitory product may be an antibiotic which doesn’t allow the growth of other organisms. In this present study the bacteria are isolated from the gut of short horned grasshoppers and screened for antagonistic activity. A mixed population of bacteria was observed in the respective agar plates and was identified as Pseudomonas sp, Bacillus sp, Micrococcus and Escherichia coli. To test for antagonistic effect the gut isolated bacteria were tested against four human pathogenic bacteria Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Klebsiella pneumonia, Escherichia coli, Vibrio parahameolyticus and one yeast like fungus Candida albicans. It was observed that gut associated Pseudomonas sp had antagonistic activity against yeast like fungus Candida albicans and Escherichia coli. The most potent strain was subjected for 16srRNA gene sequencing in order to identify the antagonistic bacteria. The 16srRNA partial sequences have been run in the Bioinformatics tool, (BLAST) Basic Local Alignment search tool to find out the most similar sequences which matches with our strain. Phylogenetic tree has been constructed and our strain matches with Pseudomonas otitids which has (99.1%) similarity.

Application of EVMS technique in a cattle barn construction instead of tradditional management
Earned Value Management System (EVMS) is designed for controlling the costs and determining the periods of attracting financial credits (domestic or Rial and foreign currencies) in the project. Unfortunately, this controlling system is poorly carried out in most of the operational projects or merely its show-off aspects are highlighted. But, in reality, this system is able to predict the process of attracting costs at the beginning of the executive operation, and also, to control the amount of costs spent during the executive activities. Furthermore, the project status can be assessed in different time intervals using the key indices of this system and different cost analyses acquired from these indices. The aim of this project is the examination of the concepts involved in the earned value method, the methods and metrics it employs as well as the performance measurements and methods of forecasting project progress that are used. A case study regarding the construction of a Cattle Barn in Qazvin city, an actual project, is utilized to illustrate the comparison between traditional methods and the EVMS method. By utilizing information obtained when employing the earned value method with the project, findings the valuable would be early warning with regard to a problematic situation, it is possible to take steps to correct the problem before too much time has elapsed. It is possible to make more informed decisions about the project's direction with accurate forecasting. With accurate forecasting, it is possible to make better decisions with regard to issues that are outside the scope of the project but that may be affected by the project's progress. Sponsor confidence is boosted when a view of progress is available that is open and that can be verified.

Assessment of human specimen heavy metals of some selected E-waste miners in Ghana
The purpose of this study was to assess the heavy metals in blood and urine samples of some selected electronic miners (e-miners) in Accra-Ghana. An assessment of heavy metal concentrations in exposed workers is essential in order to monitor and reveal the impact of these metals on human health. Fifty (50) samples of human blood and urine were taken to the laboratory and stored at 4°C until digestion and analysis processes. The results obtained showed that, generally, respondents had more amounts of Cu in their urine (Mean = 0.1844, SD = 0.1245), Cr (Mean = 3.373, SD = 0.8229) in their blood. The study concluded that there is the need for immediate intervention by government and stakeholders for the sake of the community and environment at large. Based on the findings it was recommended immediate government intervention in terms of controlling and regulating the activities of the metal scrap miners with regards to both means of collection and disposal/burning. Further, NGOs, corporate organisation and individuals with the necessary resources can provide capacity training for the elderly involved with such trades. Finally, the capacity of the metal scrap recycling plant has to be enlarged or more of such plants should be built by the government.

Assessment of organochlorine pesticides residues in cocoa beans from Ghana
Pesticide may be a necessary evil. They protect crops including cocoa from pests attack, and thus maximize productivity in agricultural businesses. However, if pesticide residues are found to be above their maximum residue limits, they pose adverse health effects to humans. Exporting nations also tend to lose foreign exchange, if produce are found to contain high residue levels. The main objective of this study was to monitor and assess residue levels of 15 organochlorine pesticides in cocoa beans from Ghana, against their various maximum residue limits. Cocoa beans were sampled at random in two cocoa storage stations located in Tema and Takoradi, cities of Ghana. The extraction method uses acetonitrile as the extracting solvent. Two solid phase extraction clean-ups were employed; bond elut C18 cartridge, followed by envi-carp/LC-NH2 cartridge, using acetonitrile and a mixture of toluene/acetonitrile in the ratio 1:3 as eluting solvents, respectively. The investigated pesticides were beta-HCH, lindane, delta-HCH, aldrin, dieldrin, endrin, heptachlor, gamma-chlordane, alpha-endosulfan, beta-endosulfan, endosulfan sulfate, p,p-DDT, p,p-DDD, p,p-DDE and methoxychlor. The percentage recoveries ranged from 70-110 percent, with method determination limit of 0.01µg/g. The widest range of organochlorine pesticides detected was from endosulfan (0.01 – 0.10 µg/g); however none of the detected organochlorine pesticides exceed their various maximum residue limits.
